Deadmau5 is coming to Beats 1. Announced earlier today by Zane Lowe live on the internet radio, deadmau5 is bringing his own radio show to the channel titled mau5trap presents, named after his label.
There is plenty of intrigue to go along with this announcement. The new show will kick off this Friday at 3 p.m. PT/ 6 p.m. EST. It isn't entirely clear who will be a part of the new show, but mau5trap has built a pretty steady stable of artists in the past few years like Eekkoo, REZZ, Matt Lange and ATTLAS who could all be called upon to deliver mixes or new music for the cause with deadmau5 at the controls.
Zimmerman spoke to Zane Lowe about the show and said that he does plan on using it as a platform to share some new music of his own and tracks that he likes from others.
This signing is interesting since deadmau5 is a one of the original 16 signing members of TIDAL next to others like Daft Punk, Calvin Harris, J. Cole, Madonna, Rihanna, Beyoncé and recent Twitter nemesis Kanye West. That recent spat with Yeezus could have driven him to do this, but Zimmerman didn't get to where he is by making rash business decisions.
This doesn't appear to be the only thing that deadmau5 is working on. His label is coming up on its 100th release after seven years of existence. It put out a special 5 Years Of Mau5 compilation and remix album at the end of 2014, which included remixes of some of his greatest tracks by Michael Woods, Dillon Francis, Eric Prydz and others. In an Instagram post it appears as though he is updating the classic "Strobe" himself with a special rework for that landmark 100th release.
