Lana Del Rey 'Ultraviolence' Album Sampler Pops Up Online, New Album Full of Gloriously Gloomy Music

Lana Del Rey's new album Ultraviolence is just five days away, but the album isn't quite streaming in full yet (unfortunately). What Del Rey's dedicated fans do have (besides a super shady leak) is a new, seven-minute album sampler that has surfaced online. Featuring 30-second snippets of each of the album's 11 songs, the snippets are promising that this summer will be marked by some gloomy, doomy pop music.

Though it's hard to fully judge the album from a seven-minute sampler comprised of 11 30-second clips, it's clear that Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys) weighs a heavy hand on the album. Wavy guitar sounds, mimicking much of the sound on his band's most recent album Turn Blue, are prevalent throughout Ultraviolence.

Lead single "West Coast" is the most obvious example of this, but Auerbach's own throwback sound meshes seamlessly with Del Rey's quite obviously on songs such as "F---ed My Way Up To The Top," "Shades Of Cool" and "The Other Woman."

As could be presumed from the album's previously released singles "West Coast," "Shades Of Cool" and "Ultraviolence," the album Ultraviolence builds on Del Rey's signature old school pop sound but gives her a little more of an atmospheric age, expanding her into territory beyond "the sleepy pop star."

Ultraviolence is the third full-length studio album for pop star Lana Del Rey. After years of anticipation the follow-up to 2012's Born To Die is finally set for release on June 17.
