Police Confirm Remains Found Are Of Missing DJ Derek

Beloved Bristol native, DJ Derek, known in the UK as "Britain's Oldest DJ" has been confirmed dead by police. He has been missing since July 2015 and many feared the worst when human remains were found near Cribbs Causeway shopping center in Patchway Bristol. DNA tests have confirmed that the remains are in fact DJ Derek's.

The circumstances surrounding his death are not believed to be suspicious at this time, but the police are still investigating.

"A post-mortem examination carried out earlier this week was inconclusive and further tests are being progressed, but we're not treating Derek's death as suspicious, said a spokesperson for Avon & Somerset police via The Guardian. "We're continuing to carry out further inquiries on behalf of the coroner's office."

Dj Derek retired in 2013, but until then the former accountant toured up and down the UK playing an eclectic mix of ska, blues, soul, reggae and more during his DJ sets. He was also a staple at Glastonbury.

A party will be held at the end of April in St. Paul's the area of Bristol where he used to call since 1978.
