REVIEW: Mike WiLL Made It Clunky New Single 'Buy The World' Can't Be Saved By Future, Lil Wayne or Kendrick Lamar [LISTEN]

Mike WiLL Made It may be one of the most in-demand producers of the last year, with his touch giving Miley Cyrus, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and more some bona fide hits, but he's still looking to make it out on his own name. After dropping "23" last summer, today (June 16), Mike WiLL released a new single "Buy The World" with some help from big name emcees Future, Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar.

Though Mike WiLL is best known for his highly coveted beats, he seems to have slacked a little bit for his second official single. Unlike, say "23" which was irritating but at least earworm-y, "Buy The World" is a clunky number that doesn't just roll along like a proper rap song should... this one hits all the bumps on the road. And though this song wasn't literally played in a car hitting dozens of rocks on a dusty back road, it sure sounds like it was composed to give that very effect.

Though "Buy The World" features a range of guest stars that should guarantee a proper hit, somehow these rapper don't mesh together well at all. Nobody can (or should) doubt the rhyming prowess of Weezy, Future and Lamar, but together... their styles just don't blend and their constant interjections of one another feel even more clunky and awkward than that beat.

Lyrically, "Buy The World" finds Mike WiLL and co. in common hip-hop territory. These guys aren't about the artistry of rap music or even the fame... they're making beats and busting rhymes just in order to well, "buy the world." A valiant goal.

We know Mike WiLL is capable of better... he is the guy behind "Mercy" and "We Can't Stop" after all, it's just that this material is in now means his best offering.
