Fans of Fifth Harmony are aware that the group will soon be releasing a new album titled 7/27 on May 20 and to spark their fan's excitement, the group has released songs off the album like "The Life" and "Work From Home."
The title of the album refers to the date when Camille Cabello, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane, Ally Brooke and Lauren Jauregui formed the group back when they were still contestants on America's X-Factor. Although the group needed to keep the details of the album, they can't help but tease some information about it in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Kordei said that they had greater input into this album than their debut album Reflection which was released last year. She added that “it’s more personal than the last.”
According to Gulf News, their upcoming album shows how the women have matured since their formation as a group in 2012. It also shows how they are embracing their stardom, featuring empowering songs with high energy.
“I think on the Reflection album, and since we got off of X-Factor, we tried to establish what the sound was for Fifth Harmony. What best represented us. With our first album, you heard the 808 urban-leaning drums as a skeleton in some of the songs, like ‘Boss’ and ‘Worth It.’ You can hear that now in ‘Work From Home,’ and you’re gonna be hearing an expansion of that,”
Cabello said that in 7/27, fans will hear more music similar to "Work From Home." New tracks in the LP will also be talking about their experiences about love, heartbreak and others which will let people know more about who they area.
“The main thing for all of us was having a ballad, a slower song. Finally, they get to hear more of a vulnerable side to us! We didn’t really have that in Reflection, and that’s something we all fought for,” Brooke said.
The quintet described their album as "edgy, powerful, colorful, a party and elevated."
