XS Las Vegas boasts a stacked roster of residencies from countless A-list artists including Deadmau5, Kaskade, DJ Snake and Zedd among others, so the Sin City nightclub obviously had to go big by enlisting none other than Diplo as a headliner for its 7th anniversary party. Not one to let fans struggle with FOMO for long, Thomas Wesley Pentz uploaded his entire two and a half hour-long set to Soundcloud for all to stream.
The Mad Decent label lead brought the happy birthday vibes to the XS decks by mixing nearly 100 tracks into the especially riotous, eclectic set featuring tons of VIPs, previously unheard edits and bootlegs. Throughout the mix, Diplo juxtaposed EDM classics like Bingo Players' "Rattle" and The Bloody Beetroots featuring Steve Aoki's "Warp 1.9" with countless newer hip-hop cuts from 2 Chainz, Dej Loaf, J. Cole, Drake, Rihanna, Kanye West and Fetty Wap just to name a few.
The festival-style trap-leaning mix includes recent trap anthems like RL Grime and Salva's remix of "Mercy." Other highlights from the mix include a previously unheard ID from New Orleans bounce artist, Big Freedia.
Additionally, Diplo squeezed-in a number of unexpected (and seemingly unlikely) mashups that hit the spot, like The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face" with JAUZ's "Feel The Volume," Dancing Astronaut reports. He also mashed-up Drake with Soulja Boy to create "Crank That Hotline Bling."
In anticipation of the usual slew of comments on the Soundcloud stream asking for track IDs, Pentz shared his full tracklist in the "about" section of the mix. Check that out and give the full set a listen below.
Besides keeping up with his own busy schedule, Pentz has had a huge 2016 so far between his other projects, Major Lazer and Jack U, with the latter currently working on a new album. Last week, both Diplo and Skrillex took to Snapchat to tease a new collaboration with Florence Welch, NME reports. Check out a snippet of their work-in-progress, below.
