Rumors of Axl Rose standing in for Brian Johnson for the remaining 10 shows of the AC/DC tour have surfaced, and the Guns N' Roses frontman was recently seen leaving a studio where AC/DC was rehearsing, which only fueled the speculation.
Photos taken by TMZ show Rose leaving what appears to be a rehearsal with AC/DC. After Rose left the studio, members of AC/DC were also seen exiting the space in Atlanta.
Because frontman Johnson was forced to skip the U.S. tour because of health reasons, AC/DC needed to reschedule the live dates. Johnson's doctors advised him to "stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss," NME reported.
In a statement, the band confirmed that the remaining dates of the U.S. tour will be "made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist."
Meanwhile, the son of AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young reportedly confirmed in a since-deleted Facebook post that Rose will replace Johnson, saying, "It's true" and "He can and he will."
Aside from that, a previous report from Music Times said that Jason Bailey, a radio DJ from Atlanta claimed that a "very very good source" has confirmed to him that Rose will join the band for the U.S. tour.
"This is what I’m being told: Axl was meeting with the AC/DC group, because it’s all but a done deal that Axl will front AC/DC for the 10 remaining shows. All 10, including Atlanta," the DJ said according to Alternative Nation.
"From what I was told, this was all kind of new inside information to me, Angus [Young, AC/DC guitarist] is a very black and white guy. He’s like, Brian, for health reasons, can’t continue fronting the band. He was supposed to retire after the last tour, so they wanted to continue going out on the road and continue making music, so if you can’t do it, we appreciate your services, but the show must go on," he added.
