After posting two freestyles in apparent violation of his house arrest, Meek Mill has found a loophole in which he is able to record and release new music while detained.
Other than the obvious lack of mobility and general freedom, the stipulations of Mill's house arrest seemed to prohibit the Philadelphia rapper from releasing any new music. However, this has not stopped the Dreamchaser from continuing to churn out material, leaving many wondering if he will be further punished for his perceivable violations.
However, as TMZ reports, a loophole in Mill's sentence allows him to continue recording music for the sole purpose of "protecting his brand." While the value of one's "brand" is hard to quantify, there is no denying that an absence of recorded material would have a detrimental effect on Mill's career.
Furthermore, Mill is not allowed to release any of his music through a medium that demands payment. That is to say, he can only post tracks on free streaming services such as Soundcloud and Youtube. Thus, Mill can remain relevant, but cannot, ostensibly, profit from his art.
Although Mill will not be making any foreseeable profits during his 90-day stint locked up, it is fair to assume that the rapper will see some revenue from his guest spot on Young Thug's track "Digits," on which he was featured.
Despite his tribulations at home, Mill's significant other, Nicki Minaj, has been supporting him from abroad. Minaj recently dedicated her South African concert to her boyfriend. The Pinkprint rapper even managed to get the crowd to scream, "Baby, I miss you," for a video that the rapper recorded for her boyfriend. Evidently, rumors of the two breaking up are false, as Minaj appears as committed to her man as ever before.
