It seems like only yesterday when Skrillex introduced Jai Wolf to the world with an OWSLA reissue of the young DJ's bootleg remix of "Ease My Mind," but this week finds the Bangali-born, NYC-based producer sharing his second single released on ODESZA's Foreign Family Collective label. Stream "Drive" featuring Kamtim Mohanger, AKA The Chain Gang Of 1974, via the label's Soundcloud below.
"Drive" uses sparkly synths to create a cinematic soundscape. Throw The Chain Gang of 1974 -- previously heard on Dillon Francis' "When We Were Young" -- into the mix and you've got the perfect soundtrack for a drive through the mountains or overlooking your favorite beach or along your favorite back roads with the window down and the music turned way up.
About the new track, Wolf said "I wanted to write something that was simultaneously vulnerable and anthemic," The Fader reports.
He added: "When I got the vocals back from Chain Gang of 1974 I was floored. Kam did such an amazing job on the song and we're excited to finally share it with the world."
Born Sajeeb Saha, Jai Wolf's new track demonstrates the range of his production prowess. He's evolved from a dubstep DJ to a forward-thinking electronica producer with a sound that's perfectly at home with the likes of Rufus du Soul, Louis Futon and Big Wild on ODESZA's imprint. Previously best known for his remixes and reworkings, his latest original is not only an anthem-in-the-works, but it shows a lot of promise for whatever comes next from Saha.
Jai Wolf and ODESZA actually go way back (or a few years back) to when the duo released his rework of their own track "Say My Name." Last year, the Foreign Family label leads shared released his debut original track, "Indian Summer," which has clocked close to 20 million hits between Spotify and Soundcloud to date.
Saha is currently on his first major North American tour, including stops at Firefly Festival, Camp Bisco, HARD Summer and Hangout Music Festival just to name a few.
