Brett Eldredge has gone to the top on both Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and Mediabase/Country Aircheck with "Beat of the Music." This is his second consecutive single from his debut album, Bring You Back that has gone to #1.
When he got his first hit, he celebrated by taking a group of friends skydiving (a big deal for someone who was scared of heights). For his second #1, his plan is to go shark diving. He talked about it in a press release, saying, "Man, shark diving (in a cage) makes me so nervous and excited just talking about it. I love the ocean and am fascinated by sharks. I’d just rather them not be hungry sharks when we do this thing. Oh well, bring it on!"
The wildly different ways of celebrating isn't the only difference between the Brett of then and the Brett of now. "I admittedly remember constantly checking the charts when 'Don't Ya' was making its journey, and I mean JOURNEY, to the No. 1 spot," explains Eldredge. "I needed a hit so badly at the time and I thought about it constantly. I don't think I slept at all. Then, I realized just how awesome of a team I had and how lucky I was to have people on my radio team and at country radio that believed and fought for me. When 'Beat of the Music' came out, I told myself to just get out there, sing my songs, and leave the rest to my team to do what they do best, and oh, did they. I'm a very lucky guy!"
So what happens when he gets his third hit? “If I am fortunate enough to get another No. 1,” he says, “I think I'll just do something simple like throw a party on flat, dry land!”
