Drake’s latest album Views has broken streaming records, and has reached half a billion plays in just three weeks. His new album has even beaten Beyonce’s Lemonade album score, which reached 115 million streams in one week when it dropped back in April.
In only one week, Views was streamed 245 million times and that was when it was only available on Apple Music. The following week the score fell down to 141 million streams and then shot back up to 185 million streams last week when it was released onto other streaming platforms aside from Apple Music. Altogether, the total reaches 572 million streams and that is only the figures tallied in the U.S. alone according to NME.
Once the numbers are added up, Drake has officially beaten out Justin Bieber as the most-streamed artist on Spotify. The rapper also had his first No. 1 hit in the U.S. when “Once Dance” sat at the top of the charts last week. Views also sold over 1 million copies on iTunes, and 1.2 million on a global scale.
In other notable news about the rapper’s latest album, Drake changed the name from Views From The 6 to the simpler Views only a day prior to its release. Views was officially released on April 29 to Apple Music and premiered on Drake’s OVOSOUND radio show on Beats 1. His hit single “Hotline Bling” was featured as a bonus on the album, which reached 20 tracks and also included the hits “One Dance” and “Pop Style.”
Around the time of the album’s release Drake also announced the dates of his U.S. tour with rapper Future.
