Mysteryland is about to descend upon the sacred grounds of the original Woodstock '69 at Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center for its third annual USA edition June 10-13 and is bringing with it a stacked musical lineup of over 90 electronic and dance artists including Skrillex, ODESZA, Bassnectar, Young Thug, Claude VonStroke, The Chainsmokers, Mr. Carmack, XXYXX, Hudson Mohawke, Zeds Dead and Gramatik just to name a few. But with so many other massives like Ultra, EDC and Electric Zoo with which to compete, Mysteryland is claiming its space in the hearts of rave-ready festival goers with an unique arts and culture lineup including speakers, yoga, visual art installations, comedy and so much more.
With less than two weeks to go before "Nomads" (the event's loving term for attendees) set up their tents on the historic farm in New York's Catskills, organizers have now dropped their full arts and culture lineup for what promises to be an unparalleled sensory experience. There will be a speaker series hosted by NPR's Anya Kamenetz, a "Comedy Club Takeover" curated by SNL's Kyle Mooney, as well as Mixed Martial Arts demonstrations and #90sFest Yoga classes.
Back by popular demand is The Healing Garden, curated by Sarah Schroder, and the entrancing Incendia 50' fire dome. House of Yes, Modern Gypsies, Nova Zef and Pendulum People, Funkrust Brass Band and Guerilla Science will all host additional interactive settings and experiences. Also returning is BangOn! NYC, the Brooklyn-based party collective that kept the party going in the campgrounds until sunrise during last year's edition.
Kevin Balktick, Art Director of Mysteryland USA, talked about the offerings this year in a press statement, saying, "Nearly every project at this year's festival is created by a collective, much like how a festival itself is the result of so many different people unifying to create something beautiful." Indeed, even the Main Stage is a collective work of art; this year the design was created by Kate Raudenbush and Jake Kooi.
Balktick continues, "Mysteryland is a special festival for the arts and artists, even by ID&T's impressive creative standards. [It] is dedicated to making arts and culture an integral part of the experience, and not just calling it 'decoration.' [It] is special in the way that it champions artists in the same way as the musical performers."
Music and arts aside, the menagerie also boasts a cornucopia of food vendors with tons of locally-sourced and vegetarian options to choose from and the first-ever Fashion Bazaar, curated by Festy Besty.
To kick-off the countdown until Bethel Woods' gates open on June 10, event organizers dropped their 2016 trailer. As Your EDM points out, it illuminates close ties to the only other multi-day party to occur on the same grounds: Woodstock 1969.
