From Rave Reviews to Accusations of "Miming," Dolly Parton Makes an Impression in the UK

When Dolly Parton played London's O2 Arena on Saturday, June 28th, fans raved about her performance as well as a surprise appearance by Richie Sambora, Bon Jovi's guitarist. The two paired up for a spur of the moment duet of "Lay Your Hands On Me," which Richie wrote. After the performance, Richie tweeted, "such an honor to perform w/@DollyParton last night. her team are a class act & she defines beautiful inside & out <3"

Things went a little differently (at least off stage) when the two met up again at Glastonbury on Sunday, June 29th. Though Sambora once again sang Dolly's praises on Twitter, saying, "Always an honor to play w/a true legend & we just kicked Glastonbury's ass!! @glastolive @DollyParton," Sky News journalist Kary Burley tweeted "Oh, Dolly is miming. How disappointing"

Not many of Burley's 28k followers agreed. Boy George tweeted, "Leave our Dolly alone! Or I will tell about the fake tan and insteps too! Lol!" Stephen Fry jumped in with, "Believe me, that is not miming. If it appears not always to lip-sync that’s an HD live processor issue. You see it with news reporters." Other followers weren't so nice with their responses, especially after Burley revealed that she wasn't even at the show, she was watching it on TV. One reader summed it all up with the tweet, "lesson of the day.. Don't diss Dolly! Lol #getoveryourselves"

As for Dolly, she met the controversy head on, telling The Sun, "My boobs are fake, my hair’s fake but what is real is my voice and my heart."
