Watch Belle & Sebastian Pay Tribute To Rio Games In 'Olympic Village, 6am' Video

Scottish seven-piece band Belle & Sebastian have released a new song dedicated to the 2016 Olympic games in Rio going on right now, aptly titled "Olympic Village 6AM."

The video splices together footage from various track and field Olympic competitions over the years. There are a few moments of men and women training, but it focuses in on various games ranging from black and white footage to the 1984 games in Los Angeles and then present day.

They hit most of the big events in track and field like various sprints, long distance races, long jump, pole vault and shot put.

The song is a straight instrumental to match the inspirational moments found in the video. The song itself still feels like an unfinished demo or something that didn't make an album, but as a loose track to appear on YouTube for the Olympics, it should satisfy fans for now.

In a statement, they cite their love for the "Olympic ideal" when putting together this video.

"Belle and Sebastian dig the Olympics, love the Olympic ideal, love that the world gets together for a big 'sports day' once every four years," the group writes on their Facebook page. "We can't be part of it, though we'd like to be. So we recorded a piece of music with Rio In mind: specifically the Track and Field."

Not only will viewers be able to head back in time and see some wonderful archive footage from the Olympics, but they will also have a new song from Belle & Sebastian to go along with it.
