The Revolt Music Conference is entering its third year this October and is getting bolder and better. This year, founder Sean Combs will honor Nas, plus present several entertainment professionals in music, social media, radio and more.
"Started From The Bottom Now We're Here" is not just the 2013 Drake single that many entertainers can't honestly attest to, but is also the name of the annual Gala ceremony held during the conferenceI. Ilmatic rapper Nas is one who's career has reflected the lyrics to this song by covering many facets of entertainment and has granted him this year's award during the October ceremony.
According to Revolt Music Conference, the Brooklyn-born rapper has invested 20 years in the music industry as a successful rapper, producer and record label owner, as well as an actor, and will be recognized for those achievements during the Oct. 13 - 15 conference dates.
In addition to simply providing a platform to educate attendees on the music business, Combs also allows the stories and career struggles of people like Nas, DJ Khaled and others to enlighten people on the grind and determination it takes to get to the top.
The Bad Boy Records mogul shared a brief promotional video on Twitter where he spoke these words of empowerment.
"I wanted to show you that somebody who came from the same place you came from didn't make any excuses," explained Combs of his rise to fame. "Nobody's gonna give you nothing out here. You're gonna have to go take it by earning it, working hard every day, and doing the things that nobody else would do."
