Ever the bad boy, Chris Brown is now free following an arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. Brown was granted bail for $250K and released this past Tuesday night (Aug. 30). The 27-year-old R&B star was reportedly released at 11:19 P.M. according to records from the Los Angeles County jail.
Brown will make his first court appearance on Sept. 20 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. The incident began when police answered a 3 a.m. call from a woman requesting help. The robbery-homicide division was sent to deal with the incident and served Brown with an arrest warrant at his home.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the victim was model Baylee Curan who asserted that Brown was enraged when she commented on a diamond necklace. She further claimed that Brown pulled a gun on her and then requested she sign a nondisclosure agreement.
During the standoff, Brown posted Instagram videos had where claimed innocence. He said in one clip, “When I call the police for dangerous people that are stalking my life, they don’t come till the next day. Let somebody make a f**ked up allegation about me and oh yeah, the whole f**king SWAT team. My n***a. I’m innocent. I’m tired of this s**t.”
This is not the first time that Brown has been in legal trouble. In 2009 he was charged with assault against ex-girlfriend Rihanna. He was also sued this year by Mike G, who formerly served as his manager, for reportedly punching him in the face.
This morning Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos released a tweet that read, “Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes. Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false #TeamBreezy.”
