Electric Forest is officially expanding to two weekends for 2017. Despite its large size, the festival is able to still maintain an intimate vibe to the whole event. In an effort to keep the person-to-person feel, festival organizers decided to add the two weekends, which in effect cuts capacity by 10 percent.
“Why not allow our collective energy to create space for new ideas, and greater participation?” The festival wrote on it’s website. “This is a mindful evolution with tremendous care being placed on the deepest ideals of the Forest. Electric Forest 2017 represents a meaningful, organic expansion into the creative wilderness that honors the experience we cherish together.”
The website further goes on to state that none of the eight days will be the same lineup, with some artists performing both weekends and others will perform multiple times in one weekend. The weekends will also feature ancillary events and extracurricular activities including Plug In and Her Forest. Weekend one will run from June 22-25 and weekend two will run from June 29 to July 2.
Fans of the festival are allowed to purchase tickets for both of the weekends but will not be allowed to remain on the premises in between. All general admission and Good Life tickets will be sold at the same costs they went for in 2016.
In other Electric Forest news, Bassnectar is slated to be a resident at the festival. Billboard reported that the producer said to Night Owl Radio, “After last year, the festival asked if I would come in as an official resident to play each year. I haven’t really done that officially for any festival yet. I just felt like there was nowhere else that felt more like home for that - partly due to the people that attend, and also just the heart and soul thats put into the event.”
