Ice Cube recently spoken out regarding the death of Jerry Heller, the former manager of his group the N.W.A. According to the rapper, he neither feels sad nor happy about the death of the music mogul.
During an interview with Hot 107.5, Ice Cube, whose real name is O'Shea Jackson Sr., offered his honest reaction when asked about Heller, who was best known for managing Eazy-E and his N.W.A groupmates Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella.
"I didn't have any emotions about it," Jackson said. "I'm just glad that I am with my brothers today, you know I'm glad I'm with DJ Yella, I'm glad I'm with MC Ren today and it's only right."
"So I ain't popping no champagne but I ain't going to shed no tears either," he added. "It is what it is... So like I said, I'm not losing no sleep over that one."
Jackson's reaction may seem a bit harsh but as N.W.A. fans know, the rapper's relationship with the late manager was marred with controversies. Heller, who died this week after suffering a heart attack, was even credited as the reason why Jackson and Dr. Dre left N.W.A.
As noted by Rolling Stone, Heller and Jackson's issues with one another resurfaced after the biographical film Straight Outta Compton premiered last year. The music mogul even sued the producers of the film for depicting him as a shrewd businessman who stole money from Eazy-E.
This feud continued even after Heller's death on Sept. 2 when his lawyer Mickey Shapiro blamed the film for worsening his client's health condition. According to Shapiro, his negative portrayal in Straight Outta Compton contributed to his heart problems because of its stressful effects on him.
