Mayte Garcia is writing an “intimate memoir” on her ex-husband Prince. The two annulled their marriage in 1999 and later divorced in 2000. Their marriage was fraught with tragedy. Garcia had a son in 1996 who died from Pfeiffer syndrome a week after his birth. She also as underwent a miscarriage.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the memoir is entitled The Most Beautiful in a nod to his song “The Most Beautiful Girl In The World,” which was inspired by Garcia herself.
EW further reports that the book is slated to be released in April 2017 by Hachette Books. Garcia released a statement that read, “For many years, people have encouraged me to share my story.” She further went on to describe her relationship with Price as “a rare, almost otherworldly connection,” and that the memoir will show “the highs and lows - always coming from a loving place, as this man is still a part of my family and always will be.”
The “Purple Rain” singer passed away this past April and his death was later discovered to be from an overdose of fentanyl. An autopsy confirmed that the fentanyl overdose but did not describe how he could have been in position of the drug. Star Tribune reported that they were unable to find a prescription for the drug at his home.
An investigation revealed that the pills Prince took before his death were labeled as hydrocodone, but it was later found that they contained fentanyl. Fentanyl is 100 times more powerful than morphine.
CNN noted that this new revelation would certainly explain the events behind his death, and a possible scenario is that the pharmaceutical company mislabeled the drugs.
