Lady Gaga has released a teaser for her new music video for “Perfect Illusion,” slated for release tomorrow (Sept. 20). Gaga delivered the information to fans during an episode of Scream Queens on Fox this past Friday (Sept. 16).
The clip is only nine seconds, but shows Gaga performing onstage before a huge crowd in cut-off jeans and a black t-shirt. Director and fashion photographer Ruth Hogben was behind the music video. Gaga also revealed this past Thursday that her fifth studio album will be entitled Joanne, and will be released on Oct. 21.
The singer further revealed that the album serves as a tribute to her late aunt, Joanne, who died of lupus at the young age of 19. Gaga can also count “Joanne” as one of her middle names, and her father’s New York restaurant is named after his late sister. The singer also posted the album artwork to Twitter in anticipation for it’s release.
In a Thursday interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Gaga revealed that she would be finishing the album before the weekend. She also said that she had worked with songwriter Hillary Lindsey, who was behind Carrie Underwood's “Jesus, Take the Wheel” on her upcoming album, in addition to Beck, Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Florence Welch, Father John Misty, Giorgio Moroder, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, as well as producers RedOne and BloodPop.
With all of the Gaga news swirling in the music industry, the NFL recently shut down rumors that she would be performing at the 2017 Super Bowl. The rumors first originated when the NFL told Us Weekly that they were beginning to contact artists they wanted to perform at the event.
The NFL clarified that Gaga had not officially been chosen on September 19, saying, “Nothing has changed from what we said earlier in the week,” to Entertainment Weekly.
