The legal feud between Lil Wayne, Young Money, Birdman and Cash Money Records continues to grow more complicated and large every month. Weezy and his camp are accusing Birdman of blowing through nearly $70 million of a $100 million advance from Universal Music Group as part of a distribution deal.
The alleged $70 million spent would violate the terms of their signed agreement when YMCMB was formed. It stated that the revenues would be split 51-49 percent in favor of Cash Money Records. If Birdman took 70 percent of the Universal Music advance then he would have violated their contract.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Lil Wayne claims that Birdman admitted to taking this extra cash. He says Birdman spent the advance on royalties, recording expenses and marketing.
Now Weezy wants Birdman to open up his books so he can see exactly where the money went. This will be an intriguing addition to the $51 million lawsuit that is currently being litigated.
Birdman's team says that it already handed over 22,015 pages of legal documents to Wayne and his legal team, which is one reason why this is taking so long. However Wayne's team says that the information about what happened to the $70 million is not in those documents.
The legal drama between these two has been a long and sad saga. They appeared to have quelled the beef somewhat earlier in the year, but Wayne has renewed his public barbs at Cash Money and Birdman at shows recently.
With so much money at stake, it is hard to see his ending well or anytime soon.
