D4L Rapper Shawty Lo Dead at 40, Car Crash Details Confirmed

D4L rapper Shawty Lo died in a car crash early Wednesday morning at the age of 40. Details surrounding the crash and his identity were confirmed and released by Atlanta officials.

Only hours after uploading a video of himself enjoying a night out at a strip club, rapper Carlos Walker, more commonly known as Shawty Lo, was reported dead on the scene after his vehicle careened off of a road into two trees and ejected him from the driver side of his vehicle according to TMZ.

Though Walker's identity was not immediately confirmed and released by officials, a tweet posted to the "Dey Know" rapper's twitter page around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, allegedly by his brother, revealed that he had passed on.

Later Wednesday morning, a more accurate account of what happened to cause the Bankhead rapper's fatal accident was released to the media.

According to police, Walker was driving a white Audi when at some point he went over the guardrail, struck two trees, and his vehicle burst into flames.

The Atlanta Journal listed the time of the crash at around 2:20 a.m. on highway I - 285 in South Fulton County. The scene was blocked off upon police arrival until further investigation of all possible causes and scenarios were discovered.

Fulton police spokeswoman Cpl. Maureen Smith concluded the investigation finding that only Walker was involved.

"It has been confirmed now that it was a single car accident," reported Smith.

Two women were also reportedly in the vehicle with Walker at the time of crash but suffered non-life threatening injuries.

There are no reports as of now to determine whether or not alcohol or driving at a high speed were factors in his death.

Walker is survived by his 11 children.
