LCD Soundsystem has made a grand return to the live arena in 2016 after their big breakup five years ago. The group curated their own festival in Mexico in January 2017 titled Beach Vibes Festival with names like Carl Craig, Hot Chip, Holy Ghost! and others on the bill. Unfortunately for fans, it has now been canceled.
In a statement released on the festival's website, they explain that "the event was not coming together in the way that it was envisioned, and all parties have agreed that putting on an event that is less than 100% would be a disservice to the fans and bands alike. Therefore, canceling the weekend-long event is in the best interest of all involved."
The festival had a diverse EDM and hip-hop lineup. LCD Soundsystem was slated to perform two sets at the festival. Poolside, Felix Dickinson, DJ Harvey, Shit Robot, Horse Meat Disco, Museum of Love, The Black Madonna, Juan Maclean, Run The Jewels, Tim Sweeney and Lovefingers would have joined them in Mexico.
Fans who bought the all-inclusive packages will be reimbursed in full, including airfare expensed from CID Presents, the promoter behind the festival, in the coming days.
Beach Vibes Festival was scheduled for Jan. 27-29 in Riviera Maya on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.
LCD Soundsystem have been touring North American heavily during 2016 on their reunion tour. They have played some of the biggest festivals like Lollapalooza, Coachella, Panorama and Outside Lands. They plan on releasing new music sometime later this year, but no further details have been shared about that album.
