The end-of-the-year recaps and madness has begun and while we will wait until the end of the month (you know, the end of the year?), others have unveiled their data and picks now. Spotify has shared their data on the most streamed artists of 2016, with Drake, Justin Bieber and Rihanna dominating the field.
Drake was the most dominant artist on Spotify in 2016 - all of this even with Apple Music exclusives.
He was the most streamed artist globally, the most streamed male artist (obviously), had the most streamed album with Views, the top hip-hop song with "One Dance" and was the most streamed hip-hop artist.
Rihanna was the most streamed female artist, followed by Ariana Grande and Sia. The Seeb remix of "I Took A Pill in Ibiza" was the second most streamed song globally of 2016, followed by The Chainsmokers "Don't Let Me Down" and Rihanna and Drake "Work."
