Kaskade, Major Lazer, Bassnectar, Rae Sremmurd Headline Inaugural Middlelands Festival Lineup

Insomniac Events and C3 Presents newest festival, Middlelands, has announced its 2017 lineup. The new medieval-themed camping festival in Texas will bring in Kaskade, Major Lazer, Rae Sremmurd and Bassnectar to headline the 2017 lineup.

Other notable names on the bill include Crystal Castles, Alison Wonderland, Galantis, Danny Brown, Marshmello, What So Not, Phantogram, Lido, Big Gigantic, ZHU and GRiZ.

The festival is dominated by electronic music, but there are a surprising number of hip-hop acts for an Insomniac event.

Among those who will rep the genre at Middlelands include Jurassic 5, Danny Brown, Rae Sremmurd, viral sensation Rich Chigga and Michael Christmas.

There will be some electronic-leaning live acts such as Bonobo, Gryffin, Crystal Castles, Illenium, Elohim and Phantogram on the bill.

The majority of the lineup comes from the world of dance music. Insomniac is bringing its dubstep and heavy bass stage to the festival, Bassrush Experience, which will likely host names such as Datsik, Andy C, Funtcase and Delta Heavy.

Though Claude VonStroke won't be there himself, his Dirtybird label will be well represented with names like Christian Martin, J Phlip and Will Clarke heading to the Houston area this spring. Kristain Nairn, best known as Hodor on Game of Thrones, will be DJing the event as well to keep with the theme.

With over 150 names to choose from across electronic and hip-hop on five different stages, there will be plenty for attendees to see over the three days of music. The camping will begin at Middlelands on May 3 for early arrivers or the May 4 for most others. The music begins on May 5 and continues through the weekend until May 7.

Middlelands will take place at the Texas Renaissance Festival Fair Grounds from May 5-7 outside of Houston. Festival and camping passes are available now via the website.
