Taylor Swift and Harry Styles may have been broken up for five years, but it is still one of the “Bad Blood” singer’s most discussed relationships. In a new interview, Styles is opening up about the romance and calling it a “learning experience.”
Styles has never gone in depth on their relationship, but is revealing more than he ever has in the interview with Rolling Stone.
“Certain things don’t work out,” Styles said to RS. “There’s a lot of things that can be right, and it’s still wrong. In writing songs about stuff like that, I like tipping a hat to the time together. You’re celebrating the fact it was powerful and made you feel something, rather than ‘this didn’t work out, and that’s bad.’ And if you run into that person, maybe it’s awkward, maybe you have to get drunk… but you shared something. Meeting someone new, sharing those experiences, it’s the best sh*t ever. So thank you.”
It has been said that two tracks from Swift’s 1989 album, “Style” and “Out of the Woods” are about Styles. His song “Perfect,” co-written with One Direction is said to be about her.
Styles also opened up about their second date, which was captured in a photo from Central Park in 2012.
“When I see photos from that day,” he said. “I think: relationships are hard, at any age. And adding in that you don’t really understand exactly how it works when you’re 18, trying to navigate all that stuff didn’t make it easier. I mean, you’re a little awkward to begin with. You’re on a date with someone you really like. It should be simple, right? It was a learning experience for sure. But at the heart of it - I just wanted it to be a normal date.”
Billboard reports that his solo album apart from 1D is set to drop next month (May 12).
