There will definitely be a “Nashville” Season 6 and fans can heave a sigh of relief. CMT, which rescued the show from ABC already renewed the series so soon after last season’s finale. A teaser for the coming season has been released and it was also announced that the coming season will only have 16 episodes.
Last season’s finale showed Juliette (Harden Panettiere) confessing publicly that she stole Maddie’s song (Lennon Stella). It would cost her a shot for an American Music Award but she was able to redeem herself. Juliette also helped in saving Highway 65 after Zach (Cameron Scoggins) threatened to close it down.
Deacon (Charles Esten) ended up offering a partnership wit Zach. This effectively averted the crisis for the record label for the meantime or at least going into “Nashville” Season 6 according to TV Line. Elsewhere, Gunnar (Sam Palladio) ended his relationship with Scarlett (Clare Bowen) permanently. He said that he needed time to find himself.
EP Marshall Herskovitz revealed to Deadline that it was really the end for Gunnar and Scarlett’s relationship. He teased that “Nashville” Season 6 will deal more on their individual and separate lives. "It will be interesting to explore two people who have been so incredibly attached to each other, to see how they chart their separate courses in life," Herskovitz added.
Herskovitz also revealed that Jessie (Kaitlin Doubleday) will be back for “Nashville” Season 6 and so will be her ex, Brad (Jeffrey Nordling). Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Alyssa (Rachel Bilson), whose story arc has ended according to Herskovitz.
In the last season finale, Deacon was surprised to het a kiss from Alyssa although they were not involved in a romantic way. He also had a moment with Jessie but it appeared that he needed more time to move on from Rayna (Connie Britton).
Herskovitz dropped some more interesting details about the new season. There will be two important new characters that will be introduced that he is excited about. Also, Will (Chris Carmack), Avery (Jonathan Jackson), Gunnar and Scarlett will be making very interesting “career turns.”
