‘Carpool Karaoke’ Host Calls Beyoncé As Dream Guest; Nabs Second Creative Arts Emmy

James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" has featured several big names in both the music and film industry during its run. Yet, the late show host is still dreaming to have "Queen Bey" to join him on his Los Angeles cruise.

In a short interview by People at the Emmys red carpet, the "Carpool Karaoke" host admitted to wanting Beyoncé as a guest on the program, stating it has been the most requested celebrity. Corden ended the interview assuring that they will try to get the "Formation" singer to take the ride.

Earlier that week, "Carpool Karaoke" won the award for Outstanding Variety Special in the 69th Annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Held last September 9-10, BBC reported that the show's 2017 Primetime Special, featuring skits from Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez among other older clips, took home the award for Corden, making it his second win in a row for the category.

Starting out as a recurring segment on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in 2015, the skit has Corden joined by celebrities as they drive around in Los Angeles, usually under the premise of using the high-occupancy vehicle lane as the means to get to work.

Mariah Carey, Adele, Justin Bieber and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among some of the top-bill musicians that were seen riding with Corden in "Carpool Karaoke" and often singing through some of their well-known tracks. These skits are also uploaded to the show's YouTube channel, often becoming viral videos shortly after. In particular, the skit that featured Adele as a guest got 42 million views in a short 5-day window, becoming the most popular video for the program. The Foo Fighters are slated to appear on the segment, as teased by both the show and the band's Twitter posts.

In 2016, Apple bought the rights for "Carpool Karaoke" and created a spinoff series called "Carpool Karaoke: The Series." The spinoff, which premiered on August 9, 2017, for Apple Music subscribers, follows the same format as the segment and features more celebrities.
