U2 Plans Vinyl Reissues Of 'Pop,' 'Wide Awake In America,' 'All That You Can't Leave Behind'

U2 will release three vinyl issues of their previous albums, Wide Awake In America, Pop, and All That You Can't Leave Behind, on April 13.

The band released Wide Awake In America in 1985, and it is still relatively easy to find copies of the album. The group's 1997 album Pop and 2000 album All That You Can't Leave Behind have been pressed to vinyl for many years. Original pressings of each of the three albums could cost a lot of money on resale sites.

Tony Visconti Talks About 'Wide Awake In America'

In 2012, U2 opened up about Wide Awake In America. Tony Visconti said that he received a call from Bono years ago, and they spoke about the editing of their two other albums A Sort of Homecoming and Unforgettable Fire.

"Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois have been trying to edit A Sort of Homecoming and Unforgettable Fire album into a shortened single format, but can't quite get it. Besides which we've been playing it on tour and now do a much more powerful version of it. Would you like to try another edit of the album version or, failing that could you record us live in front of an audience?" said Visconti.

After he listened to the shortened single format, Visconti called Bono back, and they agreed to re-record the songs. After the recording session, they decided to release Wide Awake In America which performed well as to sales.

Bono Opens Up About 'Pop'

Last year, Bono talked about Pop. He explained how they had to rush things because deadlines were looming.

"Pop never had the chance to be properly finished. It is really the most expensive demo session in the history of music," said Bono.
