Chris Brown and his lawyer are coming after the individual who leaked photos of the singer during the Ultra Festival 2018 in Miami.
Friendly Attack
Last weekend, the 28-year-old artist hosted a party with a bunch of his friends at a rented house in the city. In a series of shots, Brown was seen wrapping his hands around an unnamed woman's neck. Another woman who had her back to the camera looked like she was intervening.
After the photos surfaced online on Monday, March 26, Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos immediately issued a statement. He told TMZ that the woman photographed with the celebrity was actually a friend and the scene, as witnessed by the paparazzi, was simply horseplay.
"She's a friend. It's obviously playful as she confirmed," Geragos said. "Whoever invaded their privacy will be held accountable."
Violent Past
It is easy to imagine why the photos became a sensitive topic to Brown and the concerned social media users who saw it. The "Pills & Automobiles" singer has a history of domestic abuse involving his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
Brown recently completed five years of probation following the 2009 incident in which he physically assaulted the "Work" singer after a pre-Grammys party. Rihanna received multiple noticeable bruises and wounds on her face and body after the encounter.
The r&b star pled guilty and was sentenced to 180 days of labor-oriented service and five years of probation.
Last year, another one of his ex-girlfriends, Karrueche Tran, was granted a restraining order against Brown after he allegedly threatened to beat her up. She also revealed in court that the singer had also punched and pushed her down the stairs before.
Wendy Williams recently called out the singer for allegedly violating the restraining order, which has a five-year validity. On her show on Wednesday, March 28, the host revealed that Brown tried to reach Tran on social media by commenting on one of her photos.
"They look really good together," wrote the "Tempo" singer on one of Tran's photos with her new boyfriend Victor Cruz.
On his own profile, Brown posted a photo of himself that allegedly was directed at his ex-girlfriend. In the now-deleted post, the singer said he wants her to be happy even if it hurts him.
However, Williams said that these interactions violated the terms of the restraining order.
"Excuse me, Chris, you're not to have her on your social media; you're not to be in her atmospheres; you're not even supposed to be breathing in the same room as her for 5 years," she said on the show via Hollywood Life. "Karrueche if I were you I'd definitely call the cops and have them involved."
She also warned Cruz to watch his back.
