Social media has lashed out at rap stars Cardi B and Migos following the release of their controversial song, "Drip."
The Backlash
On April 3, the "Bodak Yellow" rapper released an audio clip on her official YouTube channel. Despite featuring her fiancé, Offset, and his friends Quavo and Takeoff, the song was not a major hit on social media. Several fans decided to voice their opinion on the song using derogatory memes and GIFs. In addition, others were worried that Cardi B felt rushed while recording her debut album.
Previewing 'Invasion of Privacy'
According to Rolling Stone, "Drip" is the latest single off of her upcoming studio album, Invasion of Privacy. "Drip" is Cardi B's second collaboration with the hip-hop trio as she previously recorded "MotorSport" with Nicki Minaj last year. The main focus of the song was Cardi B and Migos each delivering their grievances to their critics and detractors. Billboard also pointed out that in addition to "Drip," Cardi B also dropped the official music video of her hit "Bartier Cardi."
Cardi B Takes Over 'The Tonight Show'
For the first time in franchise history, Cardi B will become the very first co-host of The Tonight Show. On April 9, the rapper is expected to join Jimmy Fallon at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon desk. Cardi B's co-hosting duties will mark her third appearance on the Jimmy Fallon late night chatfest. Her December 2017 appearance was widely talked about in the pop culture world as she made the former Saturday Night Live star laugh hysterically during their interview. Cardi B made her first appearance on the NBC talk show on September 2017 to perform "No Limit" with fellow rapper G-Eazy.
Announcing 'Invasion Of Privacy' And Tax Dollars
On March 26, Cardi B made an epic announcement that her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, would be available on April 6. She hinted the project when she won the New Artist award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The epic announcement came three days after the rapper left a profanity-laced social media tirade. Cardi B wanted to know why the United States government is taking 40 percent of her taxes and demanded to know where her tax dollars were going. She also blasted the government for not improving the lives of regular Americans.
Live From New York; It's Cardi B
On March 18, Cardi B dropped some exciting news regarding an appearance on another NBC show. The former Love and Hip-Hop star announced that she would be joining Chadwick Boseman on the April 7 edition of Saturday Night Live.
