Avicii Announces His Retirement

Two years ago, Avicii announced that he will be retiring from the music scene due to his health issues. The "Broken Arrows" artist was previously diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, which is one of the effects of his excessive drinking. In 2014, he also canceled a series of shows so he could focus on his recovery.

"To me, it was something I had to do for my health. The scene was not for me. It was not the shows and not the music. It was always the other stuff surrounding it that never came naturally to me. All the other parts of being an artist. I'm more of an introverted person in general. It was always very hard for me. I took on board too much negative energy, I think," explained Avicii.

During the same interview, the DJ said that he initially felt nervous announcing his decision to retire. He said that he did not want to seem ungrateful to his fans and those that paved the way for him to have an outstanding career.

After his announcement, Avicii revealed that his fans understood his decision. He also received encouraging text messages from his friends in the business. Additionally, the response that he got from the press was also incredible.
