After several months of hiding, Carrie Underwood is no longer afraid to show the world her face after a freak accident in her home last year.
Last November, the country singer-songwriter canceled her public appearances and performances after she had reportedly fallen outside of her home in Nashville. Sources revealed that she had to undergo a minor surgery after breaking her wrist.
In January this year, she warned fans that she might never look the same after she had received about 40-50 stitches on her face.
The 35-year-old, since then, has been in hiding. She refrained from posting photos of herself on Instagram and refused to appear in public to perform. Fans were worried and curious. At the Academy of Country Music Awards 2018, however, Underwood finally faced the cameras and debuted her new song "Cry Pretty."
First TV Appearance After The Accident
Her new interview with The Today Show is her first television appearance since the accident.
"Plain and simple, it was just kind of a freak accident," the former American Idol winner told Hoda Kotb. "I just fell. I just tripped. Taking my dogs out to do their business. It could have happened to anybody. I say if I had fallen anywhere else, it wouldn't have been a problem. But there was just one little step that I went to catch myself on and I missed."
Despite her warning, her fans did not see any noticeable change to the singer's face. She still looks as beautiful as ever, but the mother of one credits her appearance to her hair and makeup team.
"I have a dedicated team of professionals who can speckle and paint and paste," she laughed. "Everyday, I feel a little more back to normal."
According to sources, the "Jesus Take The Wheel" singer and her husband Mike Fisher are planning to move out of their home after her freak accident. The celebrity couple has reportedly started house shopping.
However, the decision to move out was not solely because of the accident. The Fishers have been hoping to relocate for months now for security reasons.
"They are completely done with the neighborhood," a source shared. "They've been having a lot of issues with neighbors letting people in the community to look around and it all escalated after the fall."
'Cry Pretty' Single, Album
Earlier this month, she released her music video for her hit new single "Cry Pretty." Directed by Randee St. Nicholas, the new music video shows Underwood performing the new track onstage in front of her fans with her new signature glitter tears under her eyes.
The lead single for her upcoming album of the same title has already entered the Billboard Hot 100. It peaked at the 48th spot of the songs charts in April. The track also made it to the number 5 of the Hot Country Songs Chart.
Cry Pretty is Underwood's sixth studio album. It is set for release on Sept. 14 under Capitol Records.
