BTS' new song "Fake Love" has been made available online only for a few days, but it has already started breaking records.
The lead track from the new album Love Yourself: Tear eclipsed the record made by "DNA" by surpassing 60 million views on YouTube in the shortest amount of time for a K-Pop group.
'Fake Love' Breaks Records
"Fake Love," which debuted on Friday, May 18, reached 60 million views in about one day and 19 hours, according to Soompi. In comparison, the track "DNA," which previously held the record, reached the 60 million mark after eight days, six hours, and 50 minutes.
Prior to BTS, BLACKPINK's "As If It's Your Last" is the fastest music video of a K-Pop group to reach 60 million views on YouTube. The all-female band surpassed the mark within 20 days.
Chart Data also reports that the ARMY has succeeded in boosting "Fake Love" and setting the record as the second biggest debut in the history of YouTube. Within 24 hours, the song had over 41 million views.
The new song from BTS falls shortly after "Look What You Made Me Do" by Taylor Swift that earned 43.2 million views on YouTube in one day. The track, which was released back in August, is the lead single from her new album reputation, her first new record in three years.
In addition, Forbes reveals that the 7-member boy band became only the third artist in the history of YouTube to cross 30 million views in 24 hours. Fellow South Korean star, Psy, also broke the record in April 2013 with his song "Gentleman," which amassed 36 million views one day after its release.
As of writing, "Fake Love" now has over 65 million views on YouTube (and rising fast).
The stellar performance of "Fake Love" on YouTube does not come as a surprise. BTS has steadily been gaining a larger audience in the United States and across the world with every release or comeback.
