Money Heist Season 4 (La Casa de Papel) Release, April 3

Brace yourself for the return of Money Heist (La Casa de Papel). The red-hooded and masked crew of thieves from the TV drama crime series Money Heist will hit your screens via Netflix on April 3, 2020, for its part 4.

The return of the worldwide phenomenon, Money Heist, comes after nearly nine months from part three (aired on July 19, 2019). On Friday, Netflix will also be releasing Money Heist: The Phenomenon, a documentary film about how the series became a huge success. The show will feature conversations with the producer Alex Pina, director, and the cast.

La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) is an original Spanish TV series that has taken the world by storm. The unusual plots and twists, exciting personalities, and striking ingenuity had streamers hooked to the crime drama.

If you are not a fan yet, now is the best time to catch the virus (which is not the Covid-19). The quarantine period is the best excuse to binge-watch seasons one to three before season four unveils. Never mind the Spanish script; the action and drama are more than enough to keep you on the edge of your seat as English subtitles are shown.

Spoiler ahead

Netflix released the exciting trailer for Part 4 on March 6. Spoiler alert for those who have no idea what Money Heist is all about - part 3 ends with Nairobi shot while looking out the window. Snippets of the trailer shows her fighting for life, while the team is doing its best to revive her. Alicia is shown striking a deal with Lisbon and the Professor running away.

Interestingly, one twist is when Gandia, the bank's security officer, breaks off from captivity and breaches the cameras, cutting off the 'eyes' of The Professor. He eventually makes his move to create havoc against the band of thieves.

Another thought-provoking scene was when Berlin is shown, leaving the question of whether he is still alive. His character was killed off in Part 2 of the series. It is yet to be seen if Nairobi survives. Across the scenes, the tagline "Let the chaos begin" is flashed.

Who will be back?

The cast shown in the trailer are El Profesor/Salvador "Salva" Martin (álvaro Morte), Tokio (úrsula Corberó), Denver (Jaime Lorente Lopez), Nairobi (Alba Flores), Helsinki (Darko Peric), Raquel/Lisbon (Itziar Ituño), Monica/Stockholm (Esther Acebo), Bogotá (Hovik Keuchkerian), Palermo (Rodrigo de la Serna), and Marsella (Luka Peros). Inspectors Alicia (Najwa Nimri) and Gandí (José Manuel Poga) are also back.

Back story

La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) evolves around The Professor, who hatches a daring plan to rob the Royal Mint of Spain in Madrid by printing billions of euros. He recruits a band of eight strangers to execute the ambitious heist while he directs them from a secret location. Members use aliases or codes to protect their identity; their aliases are based on famous international cities. Disguised in the iconic red jumpsuit and masks of Spanish painter Salvador Dali, the group held hostages as part of their scheme for negotiation and to assist in printing the cache.

Parts one and two show how the team battles with authorities and their hostages as they pull off the biggest heist in history. Part three focuses on the unexpected reunion after their hiatus from different parts of the world. This time, the target is the Bank of Spain to save Rio.

Phenomenal success in Netflix

Spanish TV producer, writer, and series creator, Alex Pina had initial plans to launch for two parts only in Spain in May 2017 and November 2017. In late 2017, Netflix acquired the streaming rights for global viewership.

Forbes has listed La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) as 2018's number one most popular foreign language TV series on Netflix. It has garnered an unprecedented 44 million subscribers from across the globe. The thrilling series became Netflix's biggest success outside of the U.S. and one of the most-watched series from the streaming company.
