If you thought Nick Jonas was nothing more than the scrappy youngest brother and songwriter for the Disney-approved former boy band Jonas Brothers, well, you're wrong. After debuting his first post-JoBros solo single "Chains" last week today (July 30), Jonas released the song's official music video, and it's way dark.
Featuring hazy, heavily gray and black imagery, the music video for "Chains" features Jonas getting dragged across the floor, drowning in water, fighting against police in riot gear and all tied up in chains... all for his love.
Though his detractors push him to the ground, make him fall through miles of sky and fight against all the powers that be, Jonas fights back in the music video. Mean-mugging for the camera, he's intense and focused, trying to break away from the chains of his love.
It's all about the fight, and it's very mysterious, ominous and dark.
This ain't your little sister's Jonas Brothers...

"Chains" is the lead single from Jonas' upcoming solo album, which has yet to receive a title. According to Billboard, Jonas' new album is due out sometime soon via Island Records. And even though he released the album Who I Am with backing band The Administration in 2010, this new effort will mark Jonas' first true solo album.
His former band The Jonas Brothers spilt last October after months of infighting, leaving the remnants of a scrapped album V.
