On July 13, at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, four suspects for the killing of rap artist Pop Smoke are charged with murder. In a press release, the L.A. County District Attorney's office stated that Corey Walker and Keandre Rodgers were charged with murder with a special allegation of robbery and burglary. The two suspects could face the death penalty or life in prison without any possibility of parole if convicted. Meanwhile, the two male juveniles ages 15 and 17 were charged with one count of murder and robbery in the juvenile court. The case is still under investigation by the L.A. Police Department. Read also: Pop Smoke shooting: police takes 5 into custody over rapper's death Pop Smoke's murder case On February 19, 2020, Bashar Barakah Jackson, a.k.a Pop Smoke was shot and killed by four masked gunment during a break-in at the house in which he stayed in Hollywood Hills according to TMZ. The local police were informed of the incident around 5 AM of the same day. LAPD Captain Steve Lorie said that the call came from the East Coast. One of the perpetrators was armed with a handgun. When the police arrived, they found Pop Smoke shot. He was immediately sent to Cedars- Sinai Medical Center in L.A but pronounced dead after a few hours. TMZ also reported earlier that there were 5 people arrested with regards to Smoke's murder case. Police named the adult suspects Jaquan Murphy 21-year-old, Cory Walker 19-year-old, and Keandre D. Rogers 18-year-old Murphy faced attempted murder charge, while Walker and Roger were booked for murder on Thursday. Each has a bail set at $1 million. The 2 juvenile suspects' information is not disclosed. TMZ reports that police officials say Pop Smoke's murder was committed by members of an L.A. street gang. The members were also involved in the murder case of Kamryn Stone, who was killed in a parking lot in Pasadena on September 14, 2019. Multiple search warrants were served by the LAPD around Los Angeles early Thursday morning, according to a TMZ sourcce. Five people were arrested on warrants in connection to the murder case of the rapper. Future Quavo and Roddy Ricch were featured in the record. The debut album is said to be rich and layered, capturing its sole purpose of reminding everyone of the immense talent that Pop Smoke had given to do the album.
