Kenny Loggins Lauches Kickstarter Campaign To Fund Record Production

Kenny Loggins might be getting a little carried away with his recent Kickstarter campaign, but it seems to be working.

The "Danger Zone" singer flew by his initial goal of $85,000 to fund a brand new Kenny Loggins and Blue Sky Riders album -- now, he's offering fans a chance to dig a bit deeper into their pockets.

"We've come up with two new stretch goals to bring you all some really cool new rewards, and to help us do even more to get our new music into your hands," the page reads.

What are the new goals?

"Once we reach $100K, we'll throw in an acoustic (digital) version of us singing 'Thank You For Reminding Me'," he writes. "And if we can raise $115K, we'll produce an acoustic version of the whole album (to give to all of our wonderful backers, sometime in 2015!)."

With 11 days remaining in the campaign, Loggins and his buddies have already raised $89,573, which puts them well past their initial goal of $85,000 that will them help write, record, produce and package a new album.

But Loggins also mentions an ulterior motive for using Kickstarter: his newfound connection with the fans.

"As a band, we've come up with some cool ways to get you more involved: everything from your ideas for T-shirts to helping us name the new album," Loggins writes. "But it's not just about the money ... it's about staying creative and vital by embracing the new way that music is made."

One of the best nuggets on the very informative Kickstarter page is an eight-minute video of the band's writing process for "What Went Right." Alternately interesting and unintentionally dopey, the video gives you a good idea of what kind of product you might be paying for.

Some of the rewards (Kenny will be your voicemail greeting! Kenny can play at your house!) are simply worth the read.

Blue Sky Riders is the trio of Loggins, Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman. The released their debut album, Finally Home, in January 2013. The new record won't be expected until 2015 at the earliest, with the page listing a July 2015 estimate for the album's first single.

Here is the group's latest gig schedule:

08/28: Orem, UT @ SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre

08/30: Copper Mountain, CO @ The Village at Copper Mountain
