Grimes has just made herself confess to quitting her "main day job" and what would be her following plans after her new music release.
The "Alter Ego" judge recently updated on Twitter that she is not a fan of being under the spotlight. In a tweet she posted Tuesday, December 28, it read, "Celebrity culture is suffocating a f. I'm not quitting music, but def changing my main day job after BOOK 1."
She also added in the same tweet, "Music industry feels old and tired, reliant on archaic systems."
Grimes contributed to the music scene with "Player of Games" in early December, and a few weeks on, a sci-fi fantasy clip was shared to the public for the track, which Anton Tammi directed.
As reported by Rolling Stone, despite the release of the said single, there were still no other details shared about the new music coming, may it be the release date or the tracklist. Yet, fans are quick to notice that there is a possibility of having a collaboration song with the Weeknd coming up. As a hint gotten from their Discord server, the pairing would make sense considering "Player of Games" was co-produced by regular Weeknd collaborator Illangelo.
Aside from that, Tammi and the Weeknd have partnered several times for music videos, per source.
Grimes' New Music
According to Billboard, the singer has recently been dropping teasers of her seemed to be the upcoming sixth studio album, "BOOK 1." In early December, she posted a hint of what could be a new era of hers, captioning an Instagram photo where it read, "And so the BOOK 1 era begins."
This was referenced to the 33-year-old's music video showing "Chapter 1 of Book" in the YouTube clip's description.
Her last released album was "Miss Anthropocene," which debuted on February 21, 2020. The album spent two weeks on the Billboard 200 chart and peaked at No. 32.
When fans posed alternative day jobs for Grimes to consider, she responded to some suggestions given by her followers. And one of them even asked her to be a Twitch streamer, and she answered, "I wasn't gna become a twitch steamer cuz I think public speaking is my weakness."
She admitted that she could also get a podcasting career from her in a separate tweet.
She responded to another follower, "Maybe we need to introduce the concept of homo techno."
