Rapper Dr. Dre has come to an agreement with his ex-wife, Nicole Young, to pay a massive amount following their settled divorce.
TMZ reported that the producer has to pay Young $100 million after their property settlement agreement. And as planned, Dr. Dre will apparently pay by two installments, the first half to be paid this year, and the other half will be the following year.
The former couple has been in a long war since Young first filed for divorce in June 2020 after 24 years of marriage.
Inside The Messy Divorce
Based on a January report from People, Dr. Dre, born Andre Romelle Young, allegedly abused Young as he "held a gun" pointed to her head in 2000 and 2001, as mentioned in the court documents.
She also claimed that Dre punched her in the face and "kicked down a door" while his partner hid "from his rage" in 2016. This became the reason why Young suffered from post-traumatic stress syndrome.
Now that Young revealed her past experiences, Dr. Dre, later on, denied, saying, "at no time did I ever abuse Nicole or threaten her physical safety."
In the first weeks of December, the Death Row Records founder celebrated his legal separation from Young through an Instagram photo. Behind him, balloons were spelled out "DIVORCED AF."
Music executive and Dre's friend, Breyon Prescott, posted the photo to Instagram, writing in the caption, "Hey Well My Brother @drdre Just Told Me It's Final !!! Congrats Still Dre ."
The "Still D.R.E." rapper has agreed to pay "over more than one-fifth of his fortune." And adding more to that, "roughly half of his liquid assets" are also affected, per Rolling Stone.
While the publishing described Dre as "hip-hop world's first billionare," the divorce documents filed in LA Superior Court placed his net worth at $458.2 million, with $182.7 million from cash, $6.3 million in stocks, and $269.2 million in property and assets, including intellectual property.
According to the source, Young was ordered to move out of their Malibu beach house as December ended. Despite leaving her former residence, she will keep four vehicles, Rolls Royce, Range Rover, Escalade limousine, and Spyder motorcycle.
On the other hand, the ex-husband will keep six vehicles and seven properties in the divorce. The 56-year-old record producer will also retain full rights to his master recordings and stocks in Apple.
