Meat Loaf's legacy burned brighter following his death, as his fans have the greatest way to pay tribute to the late singer and actor.
Meat Loaf's fans heard the most heartbreaking news this year as the singer's longtime agent Michael Greene revealed that he died on Thursday. While most people mourned over his tragic passing, most of the fans chose to give the singer a special tribute by making massive contributions to his streams and sales.
MRC Data (via Yahoo) released a new report on January 21 - days after Meat Loaf died - and revealed that his on-demand streaming jumped by 4,650 percent from its baseline since the beginning of the year.
On top of that, his album sales also made an impressive change by going up by 18,684 percent, while the individual digital track sales increased to a whopping 33,793 percent.
The data presented have since been remarkable, especially since he only racked up minimal streams before his death. Despite that, his hit projects still garnered sizable records before his passing.
Before his death, Meat Loaf saw 205,666 on-demand audio streams before it went up to 9 million streams the following day.
Among the songs fans streamed were "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)," "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," and "Bat Out of Hell."
These records ultimately honored the legendary singer who, unfortunately, passed away last week.
What Happened to Meat Loaf?
The rock singer's official Facebook page also revealed his longtime agent's news, confirming that the actor passed away at the age of 74.
"Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side," the statement read. "Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours."
His cause of death was initially unknown, but it has since been revealed that he caught COVID-19. His condition quickly worsened after contracting the virus, leading to complications that caused his death.
While he lost his battle against the dreaded virus, Meat Loaf survived decades' worth of health battles. Those issues even tested his career, but he beat them all and continued performing.
Among his diagnosis included Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome. The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences said that the WPW syndrome causes a problem in a person's heartbeat. People with this disease suffer from fast heart rate and other arrhythmias.
"Many people are born with this condition and can live their whole lives without ever knowing it is there. Mine appeared to have been quiet until now. The prognosis is excellent as the procedure's success rate is over 95 percent," he went on.
He also suffered injuries and falls in the years leading to his death.
