Taylor Swift is setting the record straight and did not hold back with her latest post after "Blur" frontman Damon Albarn criticized her as a songwriter, saying she doesn't write her own music; what happened between the two musicians?
Taking to her Twitter account, Swift revealed that she was "such a big fan" of Albarn, until she saw the Los Angeles Interview of him where he criticized her work as a singer.
"I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don't have to like my songs but it's really f***** up to try and discredit my writing. WOW," she wrote.
The "Out of the Woods" hitmaker did not stop there as she replied in the thread, "PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering."
A few hours after the tweet was posted and garnered over 300,000 likes at the time of this writing, Albarn finally spoke out about the situation, saying the article posted was "reduced to clickbait."
The "Blur" frontman also aplogized, writing, "I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand."
Despite his apology, many fans weren't pleased about his recent tweet as one supporter posted a screenshot of his interview where he blatantly said Swift "doesn't write her own songs."
"What part of this was reduced to clickbait? You said her songwriting doesn't count as songwriting and then compared her to another female artist with a completely different style," one fan wrote.
Damon Albarn's Controversial Interview
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Swift's tweet comes after the Los Angeles Times published an interview article of Albarn over the weekend.
Damon Albarn is the frontman of the popular rock band "Blur," he's also the co-founder of the group "Gorillaz."
In the article, as reported by the abovementioned outlet, writer Mickael Wood asked him to name a musician who is "not relying on sound and attitude" leading him to name Swift as an "excellent songwriter."
However, Albarn appears to disagree as he alleged that the "Champagne Problems" singer doesn't write her own music.
He didn't stop there as he further mentioned that "co-writing" doesn't count, saying, "Co-writing is very different to writing. I'm not hating on anybody, I'm just saying there's a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes."
At the time of this writing, Taylor Swift has not publicly responded to Albarn's apology.
