Fans of the iconic female band, the Spice Girls, are in for another disappointment as preparations for the reunion of the group have apparently been canceled.

According to reports, their future plans, which included an animated feature, a global tour in 2023, and other appearances, are just a distant dream for avid fans of the British Pop group Spice Girls.

The split

The Sun reported that the supposed to be "brilliant" reunion was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The insider revealed that "now it's done again" and "there's nothing on the agenda" anymore as "they're focusing on their own things".

Despite the absence of Victoria Beckham, Geri Horner, formerly Halliwell, and Mel B were the driving forces behind the group's huge reunion tour, which ended in sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium.

After the performances proved to be a success, the band was convinced to continue, with Mel B announcing a series of Australian dates on stage during their final performance.

Scrapped plans

Although Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham, is not involved in the recent performances, she is included in the now-canceled animated movie for the girl group.

The animation is intended to be a superhero-themed adventure in which the members of the Spice Girls attempt to restore their "Girl Power," according to the official description.

The insider also mentioned that they "loved being back on stage" as it has "reinvigorated their love for performing".

But because of the lockdown and the uptick of more cases in Europe and the United States, everyone turned back on the commitment for other projects.

It was reported that Geri is focusing on new television commitments, Emma Bunton on television and radio work, while the Two Mels are busy on their respective personal lives, and because of Beckham's earlier obligations, the reunion has "fizzled out".

Reunion with no Posh Spice?

In a nostalgic treat to their fans, the Spice Girls reunited in 2019 for a world tour. However, Victoria Beckham did not participate on the reunion as she was busy on her fashion label at the time.

She, however, joined a virtual reunion last June 2021 for Pride Month with the other members of the girl group.

Beckham shared on Instagram videos of herself with Mel B, Mel C, Bunton, and Horner, all of whom were dressed in their LGBTQ+ apparel as the band's 1996 song "Wannabe" played in the backdrop of the video.
