What better host can a singing competition show get than someone who has the most success coming from a singing contest themselves?
In the case of the upcoming NBC music show, American Song Contest, a Eurovision-styled singing competition, they landed the best person for the role, American Idol Season 1 winner and Grammy-winner Kelly Clarkson.
The new contest, announced in 2020, was scheduled to premiere on television in February, but NBC postponed it.
Who are the hosts?
NBC's American Song Contest features all original musical performances from performers in all 50 states, five US territories, and the nation's capital, Washington DC, with artists competing to win the title of Best Original Song in a grand spectacle.
Aside from Kelly, another music icon will co-host the upcoming new show.
Headlining the NFL Super Bowl LVI Halftime performance yesterday with other hip-hop giants like Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar; Snoop Dogg has something to say with the grand announcement:
"I am honored to host American Song Contest alongside my lil sis Kelly Clarkson, aka Miss Texas,."
With the announcement, Kelly expressed excitement about her new hosting gig. The 39-year old vocalist confessed that she has been a "fan and love the concept of Eurovision" as she was equally "thrilled to bring the musical phenomenon" to the country.
"I'm so excited to work with Snoop and can't wait to see every state and territory represented by artists singing their own songs," Kelly added.
