YG didn't have the chance to ask his Canadian fans who they loved when he stopped at the Encore in Edmonton, but it's safe to say that they wouldn't have responded with his name. Now his actions during the shortened show may result in a lawsuit against the rapper.
The emcee was only onstage for a few songs when he suddenly lost his voice. It's an unfortunate occurrence that inevitably resulted in the rest of the show being cancelled. That excuse for his failure to perform wasn't revealed by the rapper's reps until long after the show so it's clear that the situation wasn't explained to the crowd that, in impatience, began throwing bottles at YG and his fellows onstage. The emcee, not too patient himself, didn't attempt to mollify the situation but rather jumped into the pit to confront his attackers. That only amplified the issues and club security got into several physical confrontations with fans.
Doesn't sound like anyone had fun, despite YG's tweet that "thatt s--t was fun." He may rethink that sentiment now that Encore is considering a lawsuit against the performer for "inciting a riot" with his actions. The promoter for the show stated that the melee could potentially cause the club to lose its license for hosting shows and it plans on suing YG for threatening its ability to carry out business as usual.
It's not the first riot-inducing controversy involving rappers this year. Tyler, The Creator was arrested following his SXSW gig after police alleged that he incited a riot by encouraging fans to rush the gates of the venue.
