To say the least, every fan going into a concert of their favorite artist indeed feels a magical moment either when the singer or musician belts the climax part or hum the lowest note of the song.

For Japanese-American singer Mitski, she treasures this "magical" moment in every performance, the connection, the intimacy, and the closed space a concert hall provides.

Mitski, currently on the road to promote her recently released album "Laurel Hell," took to Twitter to speak her mind.

Being consumed as 'content'

In a string of tweets, the 31-year old posted a "note" for her concertgoers to consider their mobile phone habits when the show is already live.

Although not against taking photos and videos, Mitski pointed out that when some fans film an entire performance, it makes her "feel as though we are not here together," going both when she's onstage or as a fan watching.

She also explained that when she's onstage and sees people stuck in their screens, she feels artists like her were "being taken from and consumed as content" instead of sharing the moment with the fans live.

Mitski's reminders are well-received by other fans, agreeing that it takes away the moment from the concert experience. However, some feel like the reminder is quite "out of touch" as video-taking fans defended their reasons.

One fan explained that they were recording videos in concert to watch later because they suffer from memory loss.

"I hear you, but I think it's really important to recognize that you are not living the same reality as the majority of your fan base. Your show may very well be the only concert some of these people can ever go to. If they want to savour the memory, let them," another fan tweeted.

The reminder came on the heels of wrapping up her Texas show yesterday as she is set to perform in Dallas today.

Her 2022 North American tour is expected to end up in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 31.

Mitski will then continue to the UK on April 21 for a string of shows in Bristol, Leeds, and Glasgow before hitting Dublin, Manchester, and London.

The "Washing Machine Heart" hitmaker will also hold her European performances between April 30 and May 19 this year.
