With the current international landscape that the United States, Ukraine, and Russia are in right now, some influential artists and musicians felt the need to speak up for their fans worldwide.
Known for her vocal political stances, Pop sensation Madonna had something to say about the recent international fiasco that the three countries are embroiled in.
The "Like A Virgin" hitmaker took to Instagram to share a video that she created to address the current situation.
The controversial video
"Russia's Pointless and Greed Driven Invasion Of the Ukraine MUST be stopped!! Please Send in Humanitarian Aid to help millions of citizens of the Ukraine who's lives are being affected by this CRISIS at this very moment !!" Madonna captioned in her controversial Instagram post.
Madonna uploaded an edited video of her 2006 hit "Sorry" imposed with various clips of Russian President Putin, recent Ukraine bombings, her music video, war tanks, and an angry Adolf Hitler.
She also encouraged her 18 million followers on Instagram to send humanitarian aid to Ukraine, which has been heavily affected by the ongoing battle.
"Putin has Violated Every Human Rights Accord in Existence. Putin has no right to try to erase the existence of the Ukraine. We support you President Zelensky!! We are praying for you and your country! . God Bless You All! Lets not feel helpless when confronted by Geo-political Actions of this magnitude. There are things we can do," she continued.
Madonna is the first pop star to criticize Russian President Vladimir Putin amid all the happenings publicly.
Earlier in 2020, Madonna claimed that she was fined $1million to support Russia's LGBTQ community at a 2012 show.
On the other hand, Fans are left divided with the pop star's post.
What do fans think so?
While the post seemed to be very encouraging for Ukrainians, some fans appreciated the gesture of the pop star because of her influence.
A fan even pointed out the origin of the edited video, which turns out to be an edit for a political interlude that she made way back in 2006 and not a promotion of her song.
Some fans acknowledge that Madonna's post could come a long way with her vast following.
However, with the appreciation comes backlash - fans felt the video was generally insensitive.
With her massive influence, one fan thought the pop star could use a social media manager to manage her posts.
Like others, this fan used a Mariah Carey GIF to describe his confusion on the matter.
