Avril Lavigne New Album 'Love Sux' Caught Taylor Swift's Attention

After a swift musical journey from contract signing to releasing her album in the span of four months, pop-punk icon Avril Lavigne receives a thoughtful gift from one of Pop music's queens.

Avril signed last November 3, 2021, to her new label, DTA records. A week later, she had already released her new single "Bite Me," noted by critics as Lavigne returned to the pop-punk era.

"Bite Me" peaked No. 63 at the Canadian Hot 100 and the UK Singles chart at No. 61. The track became Avril Lavigne's lead single for her seventh studio album, "Love Sux," which she announced a month later in January 2022.

The day after announcing her upcoming album, Lavigne promptly released her second lead single, "Love It When You Hate Me," peaking at Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs No. 15 spot and debuting at the Canadian Hot 100 at No. 76.

Avril recently released "Love Sux," as fast-paced as she is, last February 25, 2022.

Kerrang rated "Love Sux" a 4 out of 5 stars, noting that the album "has enough elements to make for a refreshing listen."

Rolling Stone rated the album the same as Kerrang, highlighting that her opening song "Cannonball" could have "easily snuck out of the demos from her 2002 debut, "Let Go."

NME, on the other hand, graded Avril's seventh album three stars, pointing out that although the album "eschews the old rules," it would not be "expense of maximalist, joyful guitar anthems."

Gigwise commented that the album "sounds too much like a 2002 carbon copy to truly impress in 2022."

With the album's mixed reviews, Taylor Swift seemed to enjoy Avril's album a lot as the pop royalty has gone an extra mile to express her appreciation.

Like the legend she is, it is undeniable that Avril has a lot of fans even inside the music industry.

Taylor Swift, one of music's most prolific artists to date, is one of the many avid fans of the pop-punk queen. In an Instagram story that Avril posted, it can be seen that Taylor sent her a special gift.

A quick snap of Avril's story shows a bouquet of flowers that Taylor sent along with a heartfelt letter.

"Avril, been dancing around my kitchen to you fabulous new [album]. It's AMAZING, like you. Your Forever Fan, Taylor", she penned.
