ACM Awards 2022: Hardy Gets Emotional For Morgan Wallen's Win; Here's Why

This year's ACM Awards has given the nod to some of the iconic musicians in the country music scene. Hardy was among the winners as he bagged the Songwriter of the Year award, he got emotional after the show, but it wasn't for his success; what happened?

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight after the program, the singer said he and his fiance, Caleigh Ryan, cried more over Morgan Wallen's award than what he achieved.

The reason behind his emotions as he was happy for his friend's success, saying, "it means a lot for him. It means a lot."

He also noted that the embattled country star deserves the award as he worked very hard for it.

Speaking about Wallen's controversy, Hardy said everybody deserves a second chance to fight for themselves.

The former "The Voice" contestant won the coveted Album of the Year award for his "Dangerous: The Double Album."

Among the contenders for the award were Carly Pearce's "29: Written in Stone," Thomas Rhett's "Country Again: Side A," Chris Young, Jack Ingram, Jon Randall, and more.

The album amassed massive success from fans as it dominated the Billboard charts despite getting involved in a drama in which he was recorded on camera saying a racial slur after a night out with friends last year.

Wallen went back on stage for the first time after getting disqualified and banned from taking the stage at last year's show.

The singer expressed his gratitude after winning the big prize, saying thanks to his fans and everyone who has shown him "grace along the way." (via Cat Country WPUR 107.3)

The ACM Awards 2022

The highly-anticipated awards show was held at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was the first time in the history of the Academy of Country Music for their show to be broadcasted without commercial breaks through Amazon Prime Video.

Iconic country legend Dolly Parton hosted the show, making her the oldest person to host the program. Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett joined the singer as co-hosts.

Among the performers of the night were Kelly Clarkson, Brooke Eden, Jordan Davis, Luke Bryan, Mitchell Tenpenny, and many more.

Some of the winners of the evening were Miranda Lambert as the Entertainer of the Year, Chris Stapleton for Male Artist of the Year.
