One of the most anticipated events every summer, the Hollywood Bowl, is kicking off its 100th anniversary with Californian native Gwen Stefani.
The pop superstar is headlining the Hollywood Bowl Opening Night celebration along with other special performers.
Famed Venezuelan Music and Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will accompany Stefani on the first night of the celebration on June 3, 2022.
Bloomberg reported that Dudamel and the Philharmonic Orchestra is opening the evening with the world premiere of a fanfare written by Star Wars composer John Williams to commemorate the venue's centennial celebration.
Aside from them, American Ballet Theatre principal danseur Roberto Bolle, saxophonist Branford Marsalis, and internet craze "Let It Happen" sisters are also set to grace the stage.
In a stunning display of unity for the Bowl's 100th anniversary, rival marching bands UCLA and USC are set to perform before the final exhibit of the venue's iconic fireworks display.
LA Philharmonic at the 2022 Hollywood Bowl
Just recently, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Youth Orchestra announced more details about the centenary celebration. The "101 Fest," a two-day celebration, will feature the orchestra in the Bowl and Ford Amphitheater on June 11 and June 12.
On the 11th, the Hollywood Bowl will see the orchestra with DJ Cut Chemist, the UCLA and USC marching bands, guest violinist Ray Chen, YOLA, and Sheila E.
Chilean singer Mon Laferte, Ben Harper, and Thomas Wilkins will conduct the orchestra on the said date.
On the other hand, KCRW DJ Novena Carmel will host the June 12 event at the Ford Amphitheater. It would include Get Lit poets, Gingee, Weapons of Mass Creation, Tonina, MAYE, Voices of Creation, Mereba, and Taylor McFerrin.
Other performances
Aside from the "101 Fest," the celebration is packed with a long list of performances almost every week until September 2022.
Music icons like Ricky Martin, Duran Duran, Kenny Loggins, and Diana Ross will grace the famed venue on different dates.
Meanwhile, Boyz II Men, TLC, CHVRCHES, Sheryl Crow, Cyndi Lauper, and Harvey Feirstein are also reported to perform at the"months-long" celebration.
Exclusive merchandise like the LA Philharmonic published book "Hollywood Bowl: The First 100 Years" and a vinyl box set of LPs of Hollywood bowl recordings from 1928-2021 are available for purchase from the opening night onwards at the L.A. Phil and Hollywood Bowl stores.
